What is an API?

An application programming interface (API) is a set of routines, data structures, object classes, and/or protocols provided by libraries and/or operating system services in order to support the building of applications.

The software provides various APIs and examples for many programming languages. The most popular are: the SQL API, the HTTP API, the E-mail API, and the File API. Software developers often connect to the SMS gateway using the built in SMPP server.
